Ikons Music from or influenced by Eastern Europe
Saturday, 11 June 2016, 18:00 - 19:30
St John's Church, Waterloo, Waterloo Road, London SE1 8TY

The music from the north-eastern quadrant of Europe and its big neighbour to the east is incredibly rich in its sound. The content of this final concert of the 2015-16 season draws on the choral repertoire of Arvo Pärt (Estonia), Henryk Gorecki (Poland) [left], and Rachmaninov (Russia). In addition there will be works by two British composers - Charles Wood and John Tavener, the latter being a repeat of his work Svyati that was such a hit at last summer's concert.
As a bonus, we also welcome cellist Léonie Adams to this event.
 Rachmaninov All-Night Vigil ("Vespers") - Nos 1-6
Rachmaninov Sonata for cello & piano in G minor (op 19)
Pärt Bogoroditse Devo
Gorecki Totus Tuus
Tavener Svyati
Wood Hail Gladdening Light
