Agnus Dei Concert with music having an underlying theme of Agnus Dei - Lamb of God.
Saturday, 16 November 2013, 19:30
St John's Church, Waterloo, Waterloo Road, London SE1 8TY
With two large concerts later on in the season, our opening concert sees us back in St John's Church, Waterloo with music having an underlying connecting theme of Agnus Dei - Lamb of God. Having performed Peteris Vasks' Pater Noster last March to high acclaim, we give his Dona Nobis Pacem an airing this time. John Tavener's The Lamb is typically performed at Christmas but is worthy of being included in any programme. In preparation for the choir's planned visit to Italy next summer, during which we are hoping to perform an a cappella mass in St Peter's, Rome, we have selected the wonderful Cantus Missae for double choir by Josef Rheinberger. The second half of the programme will consist of Bob Chilcott's Requiem, a contemporary yet elegant setting from one of Britain's foremost choral composers. Two young singers from music colleges will take on the soprano and tenor solo roles.
