 At the AGM back in early October, members of the choir were asked to choose the charity that they wished to support at the Christmas concert in December. The overwhelming winner was Carers Support Merton, a local charity that supports unpaid carers so that they can stay well and have fulfilling lives, even with the challenges they face. Amongst their services, the charity offers counselling sessions, one-to-one work, respite activities, benefits advice, training and advocacy.
John Davey, a bass in the choir and Treasurer of the charity, spoke at the beginning of the Christmas concert about the charity, and audience and choir members were invited to leave donations in the collecting buckets at the end of the concert.
Tracy Weight is the CEO for the charity and she has written to the choir saying "I am writing to thank you so much for your kind opportunity to raise funds [for our cause] at this year's Christmas concert. We managed to collect a total of £1054.54".
